1. Sometimes the journey is the payoff. We make and create, always working towards the final product, and then when we’re done, we start on something new. But what comes next is often determined by what we see and stumble upon along the way. With this video series we set out both to document how we create and to give a glimpse into the life of our products in the world.

Short No 001 begins with two interconnected processes: the design and construction of our Wildnerness Rucksack, and the origin of a simple adventure. Often, the destination isn’t as important as the simple joy of the preparation and the setting out. What awaits is unknown, but with a collection of trusted essentials close at hand discoveries are certain, and time spent exploring is the best sort of time. Here’s to the journey.

  2. New vs Used, 4 months of wear on the Journeyman

  3. The Journeyman is a perfect example of how a great concept can spring from our collaborative nature as a company.  Born from an idea proposed by our retail staff, this slim-yet-sturdy wallet was subsequently designed, developed and sampled by our design-minded craftspeople on the workshop floor.  After a few rounds of revisions and adequate time in our pockets, the wear testing reviews came in – it was ready to be added to our collection.

  6. There’s a sense of satisfaction we feel when a customer comes into the shop, pulls out a well-worn wallet or belt, and goes on to describe the history of their product.  We’d imagine it’s similar to the reaction an old rancher feels when driving their 63’ Ford F-100 work rig past a classic car show - there’s pride in the history of things, and how we put them to good use.  And from where we’re standing, we see the beauty in things we’ve held onto and used day in and day out.  We’re not interested in keeping anything parked in the garage.

Stop by our flagship and see the Tanner Goods leather evolution on display in our rotating gallery. If you have some well-worn goods, be certain to share them with our staff!

  8. We always intended our brick and mortar store to be a sort of testing ground for new ideas, and this week the rubber hits the road. Over the next few months we’ll be introducing new styles, colors and exclusive leathers we’ve developed with our friends at Horween. These products will only be available in-store, and produced in limited numbers. It’s a way to offer something you can’t find anywhere else, and we’re hoping you will help us decide what we’ll permanently add down the road.

This week, we’re excited to announce two new color options, both featuring an exclusive leather we’re calling Rich Latigo, developed in collaboration with Horween. This leather has a similar appearance and will age much like our English Bridle, but is slightly more malleable. The first exclusive is a combination of Natural waxed canvas and Italian Brown Rich Latigo leather we’re using for a small run of bags. The second is a Natural Moc color of Rich Latigo we cut our wallet line from. Both are available starting this weekend at our flagship store in Portland.

If you have any questions about the exclusive product, give us a call at the store: 503.222.2774 or email: service@tannergoods.com

  9. Whether worn as a wrap, draped across the back of your couch or simply used to sit on while the grass is still damp, our Stadium Blanket is a pocket of warmth presented in a manageable size.  Cut from genuine Pendleton Jacquard Wool, our Stadium Blanket features a reversible solid charcoal grey body with a vertical native print running down the spine.

Each is cut and sewn in our workshop in Portland, Ore., and measures 66” wide by 34” tall.

    It’s cozy as hell.

  13. Let’s face it; some of us carry more in our wallets than others.  So instead of over-burdening a wallet meant for carrying less [better known as the Costanza Dilemma], we designed - well, engineered is actually a better term - a silhouette that solves this problem.  And solves it in a beautiful combination of form and function.

Like the laborer for which it is named, the Tradesman silhouette speaks to those who travel with a hefty set of essentials.  It features a half-dozen card slots, two long pouches for cash and receipts and one long zippered pouch utilizing a premium Riri metal hardware.  It’s stout, but in a good way.

After being sold out for the past eight weeks, we’re happy to re-introduce one of our most popular styles.  The Tradesman is now available online and in-store in Black, Russet, Oxeblood, Indigo and Natural.
